Australia is the kingdom of parakeets, and here you can meet four species, each with its own color palette.
The Bourke’s parrot has pink and brown tones, and is both an early riser and a night owl: it is active at dawn, at dusk and even on moonlit nights. The splendid parakeet lives up to its name: the male has a turquoise face and a scarlet-red chest. The elegant parrot is golden olive-green, with a fine blue band on the forehead. And the red-rumped parrot hides a red patch on its back that is only visible when it flies.
All of them forage for seeds by walking through the grass and nest in tree hollows. And some are so adapted to the drought of the Australian interior that they can go a long time without drinking.
Small, colorful and very hardy.
